Studying in College

The perfect study environment is definitely hard to find, especially since I go to a big school where people are everywhere. And I have to give thanks to WeWork for giving me the idea for this post. They've been named the 15th most innovative company, and I love how their coworking spaces help out small businesses - something that I am a sucker for.

Thankfully, I have found two spots that are my go-to, and aren't far from my dorm. The spot that I took pictures of is little lounge behind the main lounge, so it's a little hole in the wall. And when the heater is turned on, it is perfect - mostly because no one is usually in there. The amount of sunlight it gets and the fact that there are zero distractions helps me get so much work done. I love being in a room by myself where I can tap my foot or click my pen without annoying anyone - which is why I'm not the biggest fan of library.

My Planner // Not only do I need it to see what homework I need to do next, but I LOVE the feeling of crossing off a completed assignment. It makes me feel so much more productive!

Snacks + Water // Nothing is worse than studying on an empty stomach, and staying hydrated keeps me from having headaches. Food is a lovely thing, and it's my best friend when cramming (I try to keep it healthy most of the time).

Pens + Notes // I like to keep multiple colored pens or pencils in case they run out of ink, and it looks so much nicer when taking notes. And the notebook I use is pretty thick but has notes for multiple classes so I never forget them.

A Charged Computer // Practically all of my assignments have something to do with going online, and I actually don't bring my charger. At 100% my laptop can last a good amount of time (about 4 hours), and when it does die, that means its time to go to bed or to eat some real food.

I hope that maybe someday when I might start my own company, it won't be in a stuffy office with a few windows, but at a place like WeWork, where it'll feel like home. Looking at their website, there are locations across the world, and they can even provide bocce ball and meditation rooms? Whaaaaat.

I hope you enjoyed a little look into how I study for college, which is SO different from doing homework in my bedroom during high school (but more enjoyable). Let me know what you need to be successful and study!

5 Artists I Love

With two exams this week, I've been doing much more studying than usual, and it can be SO boring to sit at a desk for hours at a time. Practically all of the work I need to do is on the computer, and it can be hard to stay focused without going on the slippery slope of distractions. To keep myself in check I listen to music - one of my favorite things in the whole wide world. Recently, I've discovered some new artists that I just had to share!

Bad Suns
Every time I listen to any their songs, it immediately makes me feel like I'm in a montage of some indie movie. Their music makes me so so happy, and how crazy is it that the lead singer is only 19?
Current Favorite Song: We Move Like The Ocean

I don't know much about the artist themselves, but I discovered him on soundcloud. This is definitely some prime studying music that's laid back, but still keeping you awake!
Current Favorite Song: Swim Deeper

I've been listen to Halsey for awhile now, and her EP Room 93 was too good. She recently announced that she'll be opening for Imagine Dragons which kinda makes wanna go! Her voice kinda reminds me of Ellie Goulding, and did I mention she's absolutely beautiful?
Current Favorite Song: Is There Somewhere

City and Colour
Mhmm, all I think about when I hear his music is waking up at 10am when it's all sunny out. The acoustic guitar and amazing lyrics just get to me, and I would recommend his music to anyone no matter what kind of music they like.
Current Favorite Song: Sleeping Sickness

Ryn Weaver
I only know a couple of her songs, but Sail On was so great that I had to mention her on here. She's more on the pop side, and her music is the feel-good type.
Current Favorite Song: Sail On

Studying can stink sometimes, and listening to music makes it a thousand times better. I hope you enjoy the rest of your week!

All You Need Is Love

A couple of weeks ago, I saw the movie Moulin Rouge for the first time and I cannot believe I'd never seen it before. The main character (the attractive Ewan McGregor) was so in love with the idea of love. It wasn't cheesy at all, and the soundtrack was AMAZING.
I feel like it's pretty split with people who either love this holiday, and people who can't stand it. I'm pretty neutral, but I like all of the chocolate that goes on sale afterwards. Even though my least favorite color is pink (not sorry bout it) I can't wait to spend this weekend with my lovers, aka my amazing friends hanging out. In the spirit of Valentine's Day, I thought I'd share some of my favorite love songs - happy, sad, sappy, and in between.
Angels - The XX
Please Don't Say You Love Me (Cover) - Rachel Thompson
Life Me Up - Mree
Turning Pages - Sleeping At Last
Slow Dancing In A Burning Room - John Mayer
Heartbreak Girl (Cover) - Troye Sivan
Is There Somewhere? - Halsey
Not About Angels - Birdy

As always, you can listen to the entire playlist on 8tracks for free HERE! I hope you have a weekend filled with love, and I'll just admit it now - I love love. The idea of loving others before yourself can be hard to do but is so important.

Winter Beauty Essentials

I feel like it's been forever since I've written a beauty post, and I'm glad to be back! This week has been pretty stressful with exams, and I've been doing a couple of my favorite things to relax: drinking bubble tea, knitting, watching Arrow, being involved with Cru, and of course - writing some more blog posts.

Olay SPF 30 Self Defense Moisturizer // I find this is perfect because it's hydrating enough for me, but still gives some UV protection because it's still super sunny.

MAC Cream Blush - Ladyblush // This is part of my Project 10 Pan, but I love cream products to keep my skin looking dewy. It also lasts practically all day which is a plus.

Covergirl Eyeshadow - Tapestry Taupe // I still can't believe that this was only three dollars! I would definitely recommend this because it's such great quality.

Bareminerals Flawless Definition Mascara // Usually I exclusively use waterproof mascara, but I find I don't need to in the winter. I received this as a gift (shoutout to Lisa) and I love how natural it looks!

Blistex Deep Renewal Lip Balm // Basically, I need this with me ALL the time or else my lips will actually peel off.

Sephora Lip Liner - Plum // I'm still on the hunt for the perfect purple lipstick, but this lip liner can be layered. I don't know what it is, but purple is just beautiful.

OPI Polish - Siberian Nights // Surprise, surprise - another purple item.

I'm getting pretty sick of the snow, and I CANNOT WAIT for spring break! Let me know of your favorite winter things!

What You Don't Know

How many people actually know who you are? And I mean know you, know you. I can literally count everyone who knows me on one hand.  It doesn't matter if you're quiet or outgoing, but having people know who you are is damn scary.

I know I was so so so nervous about telling people about this little blog of mine because it's a side of me that no one has really seen. There's some personal facts floating around Petite Pastels somewhere, and I may or may not have written about people without them knowing (without their names of course...). It's a funny thing, having me be so scared. Why does anyone care of what others think of them? Going to college has made me realize that I shouldn't spend another second being someone who I'm not.

Someone could be confident and outgoing, and be really insecure, and someone could go out every weekend and not taste a lick of alcohol. It bothers me that something so cheesy like "don't judge a book by its cover" is true...but it is.
Love you all,
